I am inclined to agree with the laptop station idea (there is a 'mousehole' in the wall to put your power cord through). The real question is the height of the 'furniture' - if you were sitting on a chair, is your computer in a comfortable position?
My other suggestion would be a 'charging station'. A place to put you laptop, cell phone, iPod, etc. while charging the batteries. The poles are to loop the cords around so they aren't dangling and pulling things to the floor. (Again, the 'mousehole' is a clue. It keeps the cords out of the way so you don't kick them.)
There is no easily available power close to it. There was, also, a desk in another part of the room that had an obvious desk lamp, plugs at desk level, etc.
