Pouring rain & thunder... and hiking.

So, it's just started pouring down rain pretty heavily, with rumbles of thunder... and gabriel_le is out hiking the Rideau trail. I guess this is going to be a pretty serious "practice" hike, if the weather manages to dump pretty good, now. But, still, I'm feeling a bit concerned for her.

At the same time as being scary, it IS a good test of her coping skills and equipment. Far better to find things out now than when she is in the states....

Yeah, that was what I was thinking with it being a "serious" practice hike. It should give her a good idea of dealing with weather, and of how heavy her pack can get when wet, etc.

Better some practice now, then to discover something on the AT trail that she can't fix while there.

I'm with everyone else, it's actually really good for her to get some really crappy rain on her test run. Much better for her to find out now than thousands of miles from here.

Another benefit - she can find out what leaks. Much easier to fix in town. It wasn't that warm last night, though. Still well within safety. I forgot that she'd be in that last night. When will you hear from her?
