srfsports and many others. I've tried, and tried, to resist...but I've finally succumbed.
It won't be that long a list, since I haven't actually picked up a lot of nick names.
If you call me David, you're most of the world.
If you call me Dave, you didn't listen when I introduced myself as David.
If you call me Superdave, you knew me in first-year res at U. Waterloo.
If you call me Davy, you're the parent of a childhood friend.
If you call me Dagrim, you've met me through online gaming.
If you call me Seigen, you met me in the Ronin guild of Canon.
If you call me Mr Gibbs, you're a telemarketer (and I think you're asking for my father).
If you call me Bunny, you're my partner, D.

Date: 2004-03-23 09:16 pm (UTC)But, those are not so much nicknames as qualifiers. As in "David said ..." - "Which David?" - "Oh, Ottawa David".
Or, to put it another way, people would refer to me with those, but they wouldn't address me with those, and I was thinking of the "if you call me xxx" as "if you address me as xxx when speaking to me".
