House broken into

Last night/this morning some time between about 2am and 9am someone broke in to my house. They ripped-out a screen and slid up a ground floor window. Minimal damage or mess.

They took my work laptop and work backpack that also held an MP3 player, a pair of good quality earbuds, my work pass, and (annoyingly) a book that I am part way through. They also took a digital camera and a jar of change. I think everything else is untouched -- including booze collection, CDs, and other such visible items.

Currently waiting for police to come by.

Sympathies... we know from experience that that's an awful feeling... and we weren't in the house at the time.

I got the passport application in today, should have it by Friday noon. So, today's scurrying was a success.

Friday will involve scurrying too.

Next couple days will be setting up work laptop properly again.

Work security should be ok -- I've got a temporary badge (or, as I call them, "badge of shame") for the week. Passport recovery has started. Laptop hard drive was encrypted, which makes that a lot less of a worry.
