It was a decent weekend, so I managed to get out climbing both Saturday and Sunday. Not huge crowds this time -- but a nice group of 8 on Saturday and then just three on Sunday. We climbed at Calabogie and the Western Cwm. And today I'm feeling stiff. I'm sure I didn't tend to feel like this after just a weekend of climbing a decade ago. Or, maybe I did, but I don't remember it? Still, I'm not going to stop climbing.

It may also be related to getting back outdoors intensely after a lot of indoor time over the winter? By the end of the season you will likely not be so sore after a weekend of climbing. :P

The optimistic approach: blame it on being out of shape. In addition, I can say I was extra out of shape due to recovering from the fall skiing.

Maybe.

The HERO RPG system has a stat called "recovery", which seems to be the first one to start slipping as we age... keeping climbing is probably the best thing you can do, despite the stiff and sore feels!

If I remember my Hero System properly, that's mostly short term: Endurance and Stun. So, that's how quickly after I'm out of breath from the hike in or a climb that I'll be ready to go again. Not so much how I'm going to feel the next day.

And, yeah, keeping on doing the stuff is probably the best idea.

I think it also affects recovery from illness and suchlike.

In the RPGverse, not only does nobody ever need a washroom, but nobody ever needs ibuprofen.
