Then on to EPC (El Potrero Chico) once I get to Monterrey for a week of climbing.

The flight this morning is way too early -- 6:30am -- which means I was up at *shudder* 4am. So, not enough sleep.

I checked two pieces of luggage, they had me weight the larger (and lighter) of the two. Just under 50lbs -- so the other is probably over. Will be a bit lighter coming home, though, as I'll have eaten many of the energy bars that I packed. (They're hard to find in Hidalgo, the close-by town.)

I've also got actual business-class tickets for the trip down: the cost was about $50 more than regular for the routing I wanted, so I figured worth it for that little. Hopefully I'll get to nap a bit between here and Monterrey.

Just curious, but how often are you/other passengers actually asked to weight/measure your bags? I am guessing you have the process down pat by now, but I feel like I frequently test the limits of the policy when I do fly, but am almost never called out on it, so I wonder about their actual strictness.

Best of luck catching up on zzzz!

At many airports they weigh everything as a matter of standard procedure -- the place you put your luggage to be tagged is a scale. Then, if you're just a bit over... it depends on the person checking you in/tagging your luggage, whether they want to notice or not.

Oh sorry, I meant carry-on. Or is that weighed usually as well?

Since I'm usually traveling either for business, or with status, I generally check luggage and don't try to push the carry-on boundaries, so don't know about that. Sorry.
