It was a more or less northern bit of the escarpment, an area called "Beaver Valley" almost more Bruce Peninsula than what one might think of as escarpment, but still technically escarpment. It is limestone, rather than the harder, generally grippier rock around Ottawa, but still some good climbing. I lead everything we climbed today, 7 on-sights, up to a 5.9+ sport and a 5.7 trad climb. I'm still not sure about how solid the rock is, especially for gear holding, which made the gear leads a bit nerve wracking.

Tomorrow, another day on the escarpment -- Mt Nemo, which is in the Halton Hills area, more of a "normal" escarpment area.

Glad you had a good time... I hope you survived the bugs, too!

I did survive the bugs, mostly mosquitos rather than black flies.

*nods* We had a visit with the mosquitos yesterday too, especially in the woods... they weren't too bad where the breeze could get to us, fortunately.
