Almost packed.

I've got everything but my toiletries and my carry-on packed for Saturday. Yay preparedness. I am getting really excited about flying off to Las Vegas for two weeks of rock climbing at Red Rocks and Joshua Tree (with, maybe, a day of hiking in Zion).

Ah, but perhaps I am not excited about casinos. I've gambled in Nevada before -- both some Blackjack and a bit of slot machines, mostly to have had the experience. It isn't high on the plans. Not to say I might not take $20 or $30 into a casino and play until it is gone for an evening.

Hm... I wonder what a Cirque show would cost. Probably expensive.

Cirque is expensive but awesome.

My game of choice at casinos is Let It Ride Poker: decent payback with reasonably straightforward strategy, and some chance of a big payout (unlike blackjack). If you do play, don't make the "bonus bets", they're at awful odds.

Last minute tickets can often be gotten cheaply if you have the patience for the last minute ticket booths (I don't).

I'm a big ol' Cirque geek so I love their shows generally but I would particularly recommend Ka and Zumanity to you.

Ka has some awesome acrobatics that might particularly interest you as a rock climbing geek.
Zumanity is sexy and fun.
