Looking out the back window of my building, there's a stream running by, currently at a fairly high-level with melt-water.

A carefully constructed dam has been put across the stream, and a water-side home has been constructed. (I can't tell if it is a single-person or family dwelling, though.) I'm pretty sure this area isn't zone for residential construction, and I have no idea if the builder has permits for this construction -- though I would guess not.

There was a guy walking buy in a white hard-hat, clipboard/folder type thing in hand, and talking on a cell phone. Perhaps he was reporting a zoning violation?

Was wondering if it was beaver or muskrat.

I don't think we get much muskrat up here.

They are widespread in Ontario, though mostly in the southern part. Kind of a shy animal, though, like beavers.
