I went for lunch today with ironphoenix and soul_diaspora. We were planning to go to Phnom Penh (Hazeldean Road at Terry Fox), but when we got there discovered it had closed on February 29th. Oops.

We re-directed to Pestos (Hazeldean & Castlefrank) and as we walked across the parking lot, I noticed a chocolatier (Jojo Coco). And, the restaurant also had a small deli associated with it, and some interesting chocolate there, too.

Jojo Coco opened on Sunday, and have some interesting stuff -- including carrying some SOMA products.

I spent about 3 times what lunch cost on chocolate between the two places, all on new brands that I have not tried before.

3 Vosges bars: lemon zest, pink peppercorns in white chocolate; hibiscus, blood orange caramel, and Campari in (70%) dark chocolate; sweet indian curry, and coconut in (45%) dark chocolate.

2 Coppeneur bars: chili & highland whiskey in (70%) dark chocolate; coffee in (66%) dark chocolate from Dominican Republic.

Indeed, chocolate... [livejournal.com profile] niall_, these are worth a visit.

The curry bar is very nice... remniscent of the famous Dolfin Masala bar, but smoother in texture and more coconut to the taste.

(Also, something's borken in your post.)

There were a few extra characters from non-completed edits. Fixed, thanks.

I like coconut, so it sounds like I may quite like the curry bar.

Too bad that place closed. It was probably the only thing I liked about Kanata (as their food was simple but amazing).

They are, apparently, re-opening as a Vietnamese restaurant at the end of the month -- though they may continue to have some Thai dishes on their menu (according to the guy standing outside who seemed owner/proprietor type).

So they sell SOMA (artisan chocolates, Toronto) and Coppeneur (artisan chocolate, Germany with a store in Calgary). And Vosge, the weird flavour-makers from the US responsible for the infamous bacon chocolate bar.

Not too far from my sister's, should hop there when next I'm in Kanata...

You should drop by, yup.

They sell some other stuff, too, I just listed what I bought (and SOMA because I know I have friends that might pay attention to a mention of SOMA :).
