Damn. Confusion has moved to the Martin Luther King weekend next year, meaning it is the same weekend as Arisia (which has been on the MLK weekend for a while).
I'm guessing there aren't enough peope that attend both that anyone noticed, or cared, when scheduling Confusion for next year.
Now, I have to choose which one to attend.

Date: 2012-01-23 05:38 pm (UTC)Of course, I didn't notice this date collision when I bought my membership for next 'Fusion. I suppose I'll have to find someone to take it, since Arisia takes less travel time (no vacation day needed) and money (no plane flights needed).
Looks like I get only one Detroit-area con in 2013....

Date: 2012-01-23 05:40 pm (UTC)Sadly, this means I probably won't make it to Arisia.
I may have to look at Boskone... but it probably won't draw (at least some of) the people I want to see.
I may even have to just make a social visit to the Boston area or something bizarre like that.

Date: 2012-01-23 06:56 pm (UTC)I never liked the years when we got pushed onto the Arisia weekend. I'm surprised the Arisia people don't try to move later and conflict with us even more often. The early weekend is hell. My experience as conchair was that it was nearly impossible to push the convention onto other people's event horizons, prior to Thanksgiving. It's still hazy and far away in their minds, so attendance at concom meetings is terrible, they ignore the cries for program book entries and function space layouts, and the general membership doesn't get their rooms reserved. Then, everyone goes mentally AWOL between Thanksgiving and New Years. With earlier dates, the drop-dead, hard deadlines start hitting between Christmas and New Years, and the conchair has to do everyone else's work until other people start coming out of their holiday madness. At which point every single convention-related task is an emergency. Panic!

Date: 2012-01-23 06:59 pm (UTC)I'm not. It's a four-day con now, so it needs to be on the three-day weekend for that schedule to have any hope of working; I can't see it moving to another weekend. (The next three-day weekend is President's Day, which is Boskone weekend!)
