Being sick in a hotel in a foreign country sucks even more than being sick at home.

I'm guessing it was something I ate -- since it has all the hallmarks of either short-term stomach illness or, more likely, food poisoning.

Hm... it seems there was a noro-virus outbreak at Arisia. Seems likely that is what has hit me. Symptoms match up.

Yuck! I hope you feel better soon. I am keeping my (repeatedly washed) fingers crossed that I've managed to dodge it; so far, so good.

Oh dear. Do take care of yourself, and please notify hotel staff or anywhere you've been that you might have norovirus - the cleaning requirements for sanitizing are much more stringent than most places normally do (http://www.kalcounty.com/userfiles/hcs/file/Guidelines%20for%20Disinfection%20of%20Norovirus%20(05-2011).pdf

Oh OUCH.

Thomas rocks, oh yes.

OK, you understand I don't want to be helpy, but also that Bears Are Very Prone To Fret, right?

If you have not stopped getting worse 24 hours after onset, or you have not started getting better - like, a definite "turned the corner" feeling - at 48 hours, or if a) the vomiting/runs become bloody b) the fever tops 102 or c) you at any point feel confused or disoriented or unable to walk, read, or think normally - being sleepy doesn't count, being unable to wake or noticing that you are losing your balance or can't do, say, basic (for you) math does - time for a hospital.

If you're not sure if you fit that description, hospital. Otherwise, you can ride it out in reasonable comfort in your hotel room, which is almost certainly the case.)

Take care, you. <3

I am very pleased to hear it. Have a fretful but affectionate Krokodil!

Thank you for posting that commodorified, one of the things I have not had a scale for (in terms of being sick somewhere by myself) is having a gauge to tell if I'm becoming "go to the hospital for fluids" level of dehydrated.

It was helpful last night to have already read this when I to succumbed to Arisia plague. (And I'm feeling better enough now to be keeping down small quantities of flat ginger ale)

You and me both, hon - you have my sympathies. I'm only just now at the point where I can sit up without getting sick, and contemplate taking in anything but ice chips.

Feel better soon.... *hugs*

Ragnhildr also was very sick. From whom did you here about the noro-virus?

I originally heard the suggestion of noro from thespian (Stephanie) who pointed me at this article in the Arisia lj community: http://arisia.livejournal.com/471322.html

I probably should have said, "it seems there may have been a norovirus outbreak...". I don't think anyone has had/made a conclusive diagnosis.

I've heard about it elsewhere... Ladysprite has it, I have it... sigh.

I've seen it posted lots of places, but never with anything beyond "it looks like a norovirus", rather than someone who has had official diagnostic confirmation.
