dagibbsI got woken up -- no, that's not quite right -- I got blasted out of sleep this morning by the hotel fire alarm. At least it was only about 1/2 an hour before I was otherwise planning to wake up. So, I got to work way early, and without the free breakfast I normally get at this hotel. At least work has coffee. And, I don't normally have breakfast unless I'm at a hotel where it is free, so the loss of breakfast isn't all that great a problem. But the mode of being awakened... that's not fun.
Also, the hotel's alarm system... after the initial ringing had pre-recorded PA type announcements, first to wait while they determined whether it was a real alarm, then second to clear the building. These announcement were unilingual English... I have a strange feeling that may not actually be legal, and that such announcements are probably mandatory bilingual nowadays.
