Can I book more into my life? I don't think so.

After the nice evening with the Montrealers, and other friends, I got up Saturday planning to be on my way for noon. That was not to happen, instead had a couple cups of coffee with my guests, while doing the (over-)packing. At least, I thought it was over-packing, but at one point I was glad I over-packed. Finally got on the road for 1pm, which wasn't too bad at all.

Recently, I've mostly been slabbing it to Toronto and westwards, that is 417-416-401, but decided this trip since it was both a nice day, and I wasn't in an absolute rush, that I'd take highway 7 to 37 to 401, for a bit of variety. In a car, this will generally slow things down quite a bit, but I can pass pretty efficiently (and did so) on the bike, so two-lane roads aren't nearly the same problem. It was warm enough that about an hour outside Ottawa I had to stop at a picnic area and take off my pants -- this means, take off leather pants, take off boots, take off jeans, put leather pants back on. I wonder if I amused anyone driving by? The weather got cloudier and cloudier as I approached Toronto, then started spitting rain as I was crossing Toronto, and finally the heavens opened somewhere around 401 & 400. So, I stopped at the next underpass, and put on rain gear, then continued on my way. It rained for a while, but I was mostly dry (my boots aren't waterproof anymore, and I didn't bother with the over-boots). It stopped raining in enough time that my rain gear was dry enough when I arrived in Kitchener-Waterloo (KW) I didn't need to bring it in, but could just pack it back into my luggage.

I arrived just in time to get some pizza, then throw it on the floor. Major clumsy moment. Had a nice evening, meeting a few nice people, reconnecting with [livejournal.com profile] kattale, and got to see a bunch of other good people, including our hosts [livejournal.com profile] corbet and [livejournal.com profile] redsash, [livejournal.com profile] tormenta, [livejournal.com profile] northbard, [livejournal.com profile] icedrake, [livejournal.com profile] horsetraveller, and probably more. We wandered over to the buskerfest for the evening's entertainment, which was fun, until the downpour started and we retreated to the nearby parking structure. As the rain petered out, we wandered back to the party, and then finally off to sleep sometime in the 3am-4am range.

The next morning, [livejournal.com profile] redsash cooked up some breakfast, including a very nice onion-mushroom-cheddar omelette, and I went on my way well-fueled both with cafeine and protein. Took the same 37-7 route home, and made it home by about 5pm, even with a stop to pick up picnic food for the picnic. Since I was still early for the 6:30pm usual scheduled time, I took a leisurely shower, and wandered to my computer to verify where the picnic was, only to discover it had been rescheduled to 4:30pm. After a quick phone call to [livejournal.com profile] succulentpoet to verify that picnicing was still happening, I quickly packed and walked over to the picnic site, just in time to find that it was moving to [livejournal.com profile] succulentpoet's nearby apartment, apparently to run away from so too-loud music. It was a pleasant evening, with more flirtation, and ended with a nice walk home with [livejournal.com profile] leolac.

Now, I'm back at work, and catching up on LJ.

This week, we have:
This evening: BBQ with the Montrealers and [livejournal.com profile] leolac, then dance lesson at 9pm.
Tuesday: dinner with [livejournal.com profile] succulentpoet and [livejournal.com profile] maybe2 then taking [livejournal.com profile] maybe2 for a motorcycle ride.
Wednesday: breathe
Thursday: dinner at Haveli's in B.C. with a few people
This weekend: not solidified, but probably trip to Montreal with [livejournal.com profile] leolac and gaming.

If there is a better reason for owning a motorcycle than having an amazon holding onto you while you go for a cruise, I can't think of it.

Well, there is the wonderful adrenalin rush of taking a set of curves fast and smooth, flipping the bike from heavily leaned over one way to the other and back again.

But, picking up chicks was definitely one of the reasons for me getting a bike. Just don't tell anyone, or they'll think it was cynical manipulation on my part.
