Had a good weekend. Friday dinner was good, the evening was an interesting experience. I'll probably do it again. Saturday brunch was good company, though somehow the travel from Stubbe's to [livejournal.com profile] con_girl's place got interrupted/delayed for 60% of the party. And, unfortunately, my allergies started acting up too much for me to wait around. (Right now, it is ragweed and other hay-fever season, so I seem to have far less tolerance for additional system load, like cats. Probably time to start the daily dose of anti-histamines for the next few weeks.)

After departing [livejournal.com profile] con_girl's place, I unsuccessfully looked for a Hawaiian shirt at Value Village, then moderately successfully shopped for some stuff at the (new) Big Bud's which is just accross the road from the V.V. on Cyrville Rd. (Talk about the new inexpensive-shopping Mecca.) Then packed and headed up to the cottage for a family day. My sister from Montreal and boyfriend were there, as well as my parents, and my other sister from Invermere, B.C. and her husband and daughter, my 7-month old, world-traveler (she's been to Australia) niece. I served them chocolate-raspberry martinis, and the sister from Montreal went to work on "perfecting", or at least "tuning" the recipe. (She's a professional, and has been voted on of the top 10 bartenders in Montreal by some local magazine survey a few times now.)

Unfortunately, they're doing road repairs or something. So there are a bunch of places on the road up to the cottage where a section of what used to be asphalt has been removed and replaced with gravel. Now, that doesn't sound too bad -- except none of these sections were marked or signed in advance. And, I was riding up there on a motorcycle, at night, with a passenger, over a twisty, windy road that I know quite well. The first of those gravel sections was, shall I say, startling. (Luckily I wasn't riding all that aggressively, as [livejournal.com profile] leolac kept dozing off on the back of the bike.)

The day at the cottage was very nice, and it was a nice family get-together. I like my family. And [livejournal.com profile] leolac and I had a nice canoe ride, to a nearby island, then a little walk in the woods on the island -- we had a very nice nymph/satyr moment. :)

Looking forward, we have:

This evening: dinner at the Mee Xim, then dance lesson at 9:30.
Tomorrow: still, blessedly, free of commitment
Wednesday: maybe lunch with [livejournal.com profile] blue_stocking (pending scheduling confirmation), then dance lesson 9pm.
Thursday: breakfast at *shudder* 8:30am with [livejournal.com profile] succulentpoet, and dance party & performance with [livejournal.com profile] leolac in the evening.
Friday: [edit]go to Montreal for dinner and motorcycle ride with [livejournal.com profile] sultrysong. But, this has been thrown into confusion, by intimations that she's coming to Ottawa this weekend. Dunno. [/edit]
Saturday: [edit] breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] concordantnexus at 10am, then [/edit] hop on bike and ride to Kitchener-Waterloo for a party chez [livejournal.com profile] corbet and [livejournal.com profile] redsash.
Sunday: ride home, maybe doing lunch in Toronto with someone. Poly dinner in Ottawa.
[edit]
Monday: dinner with [livejournal.com profile] mellybean71, [livejournal.com profile] sultrysong, and the boy.
Tuesday: recover from my weekend.
[/edit]

September 9th: Poetry Slam (do I wear a kilt?)
October 7-9 (and 10th for travel): Conclave sf convention in Lansing, Michigan.
November: contemplate going to Windycon 32, if I can find room-mates and get air-miles tickets.
December 22-29: family Christmas at my sister's in Invermere B.C.

Why don't you come to our party Sunday?

Well, cause I want to make it to the poly dinner in Ottawa on Sunday, and if I start partying in KW at noon, that makes being in Ottawa for 6:30pm quite difficult. Sure, I can almost fly on the motorcycle, but not that fast, and I really don't need to make more forced donations to the Ontario government, and the insurance corporations. (And, work is expecting me on Monday.)

Sorry, but way-out-of-town Sunday afternoon-evening parties don't work all that well for me.

Yeah, that'll be cool. Hope the pain is mostly dissipated by then, wouldn't want kissing you hello to hurt too much. :)
