So, does anyone want to throw a party at my place the weekend of March 19-21? Cause, everyone other March weekend I'm venueing at least one party. :)

(Or am I going to have to throw a party that weekend? Hm... maybe I need to find an excuse for a party. )

Hm... that's an idea... a "welcome the spring" party.

That's about an hour south of here, I think.

Ah, Winchester England. There is, actually, a Winchester Ontario about an hour south of Ottawa.

Have fun in England.

Can I throw a party there on the 19th that doesn't start till 11:00 pm?

Or I could throw one on the 21st!

Both sound possible. What sort of party were you planning to throw?

I have two suggestions for the MArch 19th:

Either it could be a party to celebrate National Chocolate Caramel Day or it could be "Beable thinks any day is a good excuse for port" party.

Ragnhildr (who would be exceedingly unlikely to attend) also speculated that you would be relatively likely to throw a pre-party.

I'd say that chocolate caramel and port work together as themes, but as I tend to think of caramel as something that goes with milk chocolate, I am uncertain. I think if the caramel is slightly salty they well might.

And of course, I am partially being silly about the plausibility of "throw a party at David's that doesn't start till 11". But any port in the storm, right?

National Chocolate Caramel Day sounds really yummy. And, you know, I think it would go well with Port.

Pre-party? You're suggesting that if you planned to have an 11pm party, I might throw a warm-up party, say, from 9-11 or something like that? Hm... could happen.

You may think of caramel going with milk chocolate -- and it can. But it can also work very nicely with a medium dark chocolate, too. (Where, I guess, I see 55-60% cocoa as "medium dark". )

So, if you're partially being silly...that implies that you're partially being serious? What percent silly, and what percent serious? :)

Serious if you are on board with crazy party times?

We can talk about it Sunday after I get back to town - either I'll see you at Dominion Day or I'll call you Sunday night. (and then I can post an invite on Sun or Mon)

I can probably acquire good salty chocolate caramels, either from Soma while I'm in Toronto or from that place in Hull that I'll ask niall_ to remind me the name of.

I haz a port, and will probably be able to acquire more.

I suspect party turnout would be better if you did throw a warmup party, not that "House of Flail, Beable, Dagibbs, and other Night Owls" would not ourselves a party make left just to our own devices - we totally would.

I am 100% on board with crazy party times. 11pm-5am? I can party like that. :)

I can supply some supplementary port. Of course. How could I not?

I expect to make it to the evening session of Dominion day -- if mnv will return an email with his address. (Or, I get it from ironphoenix.)

I think clinkerfiasco might qualify as another of the night-owls set. Also, commodorified will be out of town.

Once you announce the party, I can announce the pre-party. :)

MNV actually posted it to ironphoenix's thread about dominion - he lives very near me.

I'll send it to you in e-mail.

I'll make a party post! Yayyyyyy!

I am going to Montreal tomorrow and big SAQs (like the ones on Jean-Talon). Is there anything available there you'd like me to bring back, port-wise, which couldn't be available locally?

Date: 2010-03-12 05:50 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com
Not that I can name off-hand. There's an SAQ Depot in Hull (for the cheap volume stuff) and an SAQ Select near clinkerfiasco's place that has quite a nice selection -- but, really, if I'm shopping for interesting Port, I have to actually do the shopping.

And, right now, I really don't need to be shopping for more Port. I've probably got about 15 bottles in my front room, and then another 10 or so in my back room.

I'm going to (hopefully) be in town that weekend to see [livejournal.com profile] queenie_writes before she takes off to Edmonton. Arriving Saturday morning, leaving Monday.

Not sure about a party, but if Q is up for it, I may be interested in gaming. My parents don't like Dominion as much as I do ;)

Sunday next weekend does look free for gaming. Sounds like a fun idea, and Dominion could, definitely, happen.

We could have a gaming party on that Sunday, I'd be cool with it. Invite the usual suspects and I'll bring the Kitten.

you know, maybe someone else in town wants to host a party... maybe you'd like to go to a party hosted elsewhere...

Actually, someone else is having a party that weekend that I'm attending.

And, in fact I'm also going to a party hosted somewhere else this coming weekend, too.

It does happen. ;)
