My Amazon anti-sleep pack arrived today...
May. 5th, 2005 07:45 pmIt contained the strategy 6 pack* from Paradox interactive, a bunch of really addictive, time-consuming games, and Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold. I must NOT start reading that when I go to bed this evening.

Kick-ass book. Next one comes out next Thursday if you worship the Amazon(.ca) gods, tho it's same-world, not same-timeline.

Date: 2005-05-05 09:35 pm (UTC)I really like turn-based-strategy, and some of my favourites over the years have been Master of Orion, Master of Orion II, (Sid Meier's) Civilisation, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Master of Magic, and Stars!. I've also played and enjoyed Majesty and EU (both real-time strategy), but with manipulable speeds, and in EU, with the ability to do things while time is paused, it can almost be treated as a turn-based strategy.
I'll try to remember to post comments about what I think of them, though I'm not sure I'm going to try them all right off the bat.
I do know the several of them (maybe all of them?) share a similar game engine, which is similar to the EU game engine.
