You've gotten the there & back again posts. Now for the actual weekend in review...

Thursday night I headed to Toronto, planning to overnight at metalana's. Everything went smoothly, and it was nice to get some social time with her before we both crashed.

Friday morning I had breakfast with theobviousname. It had been far too long since I'd last seen him, so was really good. He seems to be doing well.

I'm sure Penguicon was a good convention. I had a really good time -- I spent a lot of time with tanac, and that made for a very enjoyable weekend. The con suite used hotel restaurant space, which seemed to work quite well. I think, though, it was a bit overwhelmed by numbers. There were a lot of attendees -- more than they expected. It is good to see a con growing, though. I also got to see a bunch of other people, and this made me very happy. Danced a bit Saturday evening, went to parties on both evenings, went out for food several times with various people. A generally successful convention. (If I had wanted to attend panels, the mini-print in the program book would have made it... challenging.)

My pocket book, though, has gotten scared. A little while ago con_girl found a Scotch she thought I might appreciate -- and she was right. So, most of my drinking on Saturday night was sampling Scotches (supplied by the kind, generous, and knowledgeable mightyix). I think my favourite of the evening was a Lagavullin 16 year old, which had this most amazing linger, flavouring kisses for 5-10 minutes after a sip. Good port can get expensive, but I think that Scotch sniffs at the price of port. My hope, though, is that Scotch gets consumed far more slowly. But, as I said, my pocket-book is getting frightened.

Sunday afternoon, tanac and I dropped by redrunn & elizilla's place and visited with them for a bit. Then we headed over to a post-con BBQ hosted by ssanfratello and blckrose79. This was a pleasant way to continue the con atmosphere into the evening. We headed back to r&e's place to sleep, then after a lazy morning of catching up on sleep, grabbed breakfast at a local Coney Island. I dropped her off at the Belleville library on my way out of town.

On the way home, I stopped again in Toronto, this time for dinner with my sister (Jenny) and her partner. They've just moved, and are far happier with their new location, near Bloor & Ossington, than where they were before. We walked to a nearby Indian restaurant and had a good meal there.

I also picked up several games that I ordered -- so I now have a copy of both Indonesia and Roads and Boats.

In the sad news, I seem to have forgotten my dance shoes in the hotel room. Doh! I wonder if the hotel has a lost & found for recovered items? I shall have to call and find out.

P.S. Now caught up on LJ! Next: catch up on webcomics.

It was indeed the Lagavullin 16 that you favored. Smells obnoxious (unless you like smelling a burning scottish seaside), but tastes beautiful.

Sorta like the opposite of coffee. ;)

I'm sure the hotel does. I've known of people getting COD packages with the shoes they forgot.

OTOH, if you'd rather, I'd be happy (if you can identify them & me :-)) to pick them up for you if the hotel has them, to be delivered next time we're in the same location -- or mailed -- your choice --- but a direct mail has got to be cheaper than a COD.
