job security or burn-out?

So, next year I am:

Teaching in Texas January 12-16
Teaching in Texas January 19-22
Teaching in Georgia January 27-30
Teaching in Ottawa February 2-5
Teaching in Ottawa February 9-12
Teaching in California February 23-26

The other trainer at QNX is:

Teaching in Korea January 5-9
Teaching in Russia January 12-16
Teaching in Russia January 19-23
Teaching in Ottawa January 26-29
Teaching in Japan February 2-6
Leaving the company February 13.

He informed us of the last bit today.

If you know QNX and have teaching/training, or technical communication experience... we are SO hiring someone.

Where in Texas?

I keep asking, and nobody actually seems to know where in Texas. But, I've got a weekend in Texas, and if I'm not in Houston, I hope to make it to Houston that weekend to visit you.

Ok, I'm going to be in Houston for the two weeks of training, so we should be able to get together in there. That does mean I'll probably drive to Dallas for the weekend. Maybe drop by Austin, too.

I dont know QNX so well, but I worked for learnix once, have given training on numerous subjects, and know a bit of Kernel funkiness, at least enough to talk about it somewhat intelligently. Somehow, this probably isnt enough, and the travel sounds worse than what Im doing now, but it sounds technically more fun.

If you have a current-ish resume, feel free to drop it to me. But, the technical level of detail needed might be a problem... these are definitely technical courses for programmers. The level of travel shown is a bit higher than normal, but the job very definitely does include travel.

Burn-out. *g*

Good luck!

Why aren't you getting the fun trips overseas if (s)he is the one leaving?

Unless you don't want them.

[identity profile] dagibbs.livejournal.com 2003-12-08 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the trips were planned before he was leaving. Steve wanted the Russia, and it seems that much of the far east has issues with long-hair. That may become "too bad" in the future. Also, a flight to the far east in cattle-car hardly qualifies as "fun".

So, partially, I don't really want them. They often come with far too short notice to properly plan a holiday around -- I've usually got lots of other things booked in my life around my travel, already.
