I had a small group for gaming today -- just _niall and jagash. Still, we played quite a few games: Leonardo Da Vinci (jagash), Dominion x2 (me, jagash), then dinner with Fluxx (me) and Bananagrams (me), and after dinnner Ys (me) and 2 more games of Dominion (jagash, me).

Was a good time.

I'm starting to really like Dominion. And Ys is clever and shiny, I must play more again. Thanks for hosting!

Sanity check: How long did Dominion take you to play through?

About 1/2 an hour per game, give or take. _niall was a little bit slow playing, but jagash and I were both pretty quick. I've gotten it down to 15-20 minutes with players that are all quick, or have quick decks. If someone has long action chains, it can go a bit longer.

I got spoiled by jagash taking minutes to go through his unending chains... then I no longer had minutes to play in the next game. But mostly you two were playing so quickly, I didn't even have time to draw my cards that it was my time to play again! :) Still, I was playing much faster than before. (If introduced to new cards, realising how they interact with others takes a few thinking iterations. You two knew what all the cards did already...)

I have definitely seen more of the game than either of you two, though I'm not sure jagash has seen much more than you. And, the last game, I definitely played a very fast deck.

And, yes, jagash long chains did give you more time to think that game.

If only the Throne Room didn't cause the actions to branch off in a tree fashion it would have been faster, but at least it gave Niall some time.

I had played about a half dozen games prior to that, enough that I think I have seen ~80% of the cards or more.

In the last game, for example, it took almost as long to count the 5 cards of my next hand as to play my turn, and shuffling my deck was the longest of turn/draw/shuffle actions for me. Then again, I had 5 action cards in my deck. (I also won 49-29-29 that game.)

5 action cards, and lots of gold?

Yeah, lots of gold: 8 gold, 8 silver, maybe 2 copper. I had a few curse cards in my deck, too.

Twas much fun, though that 3rd game of Dominion was a touch painful. (8, 7, 6 final scores hurt.)

Yeah, that was a low-scoring game. Tight, though.

Sounds like a fun round... curse cards for all?

Yep, curse cards all around.
