I had an awesome time at Confusion
Jan. 26th, 2009 10:29 pmI had a really good time at Confusion this year.
Some of the highlights include:
-- a con suite well run by tammylc
-- the totally random cocktail hour party hosted by the mightyix
-- drinking port Friday and Saturday evening with some very good friends
-- lots of cuddles and snuggles with tanac on Saturday and Sunday
-- a game of Wealth of Nations (added to my to-buy list) on Saturday
-- good Indian food on Friday and Saturday, same restaurant, different people
-- flirting with astaria66 on Friday
-- heck, flirting with lots of other people, too :)
-- time spent with blckrose79
-- having buttongirl as a driving companion on the Ottawa-Toronto-Ottawa legs of the journey
-- chatting with metalana Thursday night before sleeping at her place in Toronto
-- compliments on my newly acquired, quite expensive, garment
-- more time spent talking with progeer
-- I played Airships, and made all the rolls I tried but one. (This is a game of rolling dice to acquire more dice to roll to acquire bonuses to your rolls to acquire victory points.) Given my usual luck at dice, this was awesome -- and resulted in me winning.
I also acquired Acquire on eviljohn's recommendation. But, a game that was originally released in 1962 that is ranked #54 on BGG must be pretty good. (The only games that are ranked higher than Acquire that are older are Go and Crokinole. Neither quite the usual "board game" fare. It is, in fact the oldest "modern" game in the top 100.)
And, despite temptation, I avoided kissing anyone, especially by Saturday. I had a bit of con crud from Arisia, but I thought it had cleared up by Thursday. Unfortunately, Saturday morning the sore throat came back. (Or a new one appeared?) I pretended it was just dry hotel air, sadly in vain. Now I've got a bit of a cough and head-ache to go with it. All pretty mild, still. (I due blame my being even tireder than normal climbing this evening on lingering con crud, though. Not on my being out of shape from not getting enough exercise this last 3 months due to the broken ankle.)
