There's not a lot of choice on where to eat here. Just not that many restaurants, in fact I'd say Pizza Hut is mid-way up the local food chain, maybe a bit higher.

So there was a chinese restaurant/buffet next door, walking distance away, so I decided, why not. I didn't have high expectations. The first thing that surprised me was that all the wait staff was white. Yup, I'm really not used to being in a chinese restaurant and not having chinese (or at least oriental) service staff. And, while the food wasn't particularly authentic, it was actually pretty good. Well, I did avoid some of the more... iffy... dishes.

Don't you know that in that part of the world, you are supposed to eat BBQ?

Yes, I know that. The hotel listing doesn't have any BBQ places. There aren't any BBQ places obvious on the strip. And I've asked my hosts for a decent BBQ place, and I'm told the good one in town closed down, and I have to drive to the next town over to get good BBQ, and he keeps forgetting to give me directions for finding it.

I expected the only good food I'd get would be BBQ. (And, last time I was in Missouri, I did have good BBQ.)

I've been there...except picture European cities and being crowded with middle eastern or American fast food joints...sigh...but we always managed to find something.
