Went climbing with iclysdale at Spindrift Wall, which was nice. Then we did a bit of free-hiking around the area, just for fun.

In not so happy news, it looks like my banged up shin is far nastier than just the scrapes I thought. Not threatening or anything, but I've got a pretty large area of swelling on the front of my right shin. I think ice is in order.

P.S. Ziplock freezer bags are a great solution for holding ice.

Yeah, two quart ziploc bags and a tea-towel form my portable ice-pack supplies for migraine treatments while traveling.

I double bag because I'm usually lying on the pack at some point.

In that situation, double-bagging would make sense.

A bag of frozen peas is very useful for icing an injury - it will conform to your body part much more easily than cubes of ice do.

I'm not sure I have either frozen peas, or frozen corn, for that matter. But, the front of a shin doesn't actually take/need much conforming. Otherwise, yeah, a good idea. Though, how are the peas/corn after several freeze/thaw cycles?

They can remain a perfectly lovely icebag for years -- I definitely wouldn't recommend eating them though!

I've never had a bag of peas that wasn't one solid frozen mass.

If you don't open them, they don't tend to get the extra moisture in, and tend to stay more granular.
