Climbing "old school"
Aug. 14th, 2008 09:28 pmOtherwise known as I got to the crag and discovered I'd forgotten my climbing shoes. So I did my whole afternoon of climbing in my hiking boots. (Old school because the pioneers of climbing climbed in hiking boots. They were might probably have been hob-nailed boots, though. That thought is even scarier.)
It was tough, a lot more intensive upper-body work out than normal. I could rely on smears and needed bigger edges to use. Luckily we were top-roping (at Home Cliff), so I didn't have to lead anything tricky, and especially didn't have to clip (where one hand is busy and not holding on) today. I'm pretty happy, though, with how I climbed, though.
