dagibbs | Getting to class

This week I'm taking a course (C++ programming) at CTE solutions, which happens to be at Holland and Scott. This is close enough to home (and has $12 a day parking) that I decided not to drive. Yesterday I walked, and it took about 1/2 an hour, but unfortunately even before I started my heels were starting to blister and by the time I got home they weren't in good shape. I actually thought it was just the right distance to ride, but my bicycle is in no shape, so I pulled out my Rollerblades. (Yes, they are brand-name Rollerblade inline-roller-skates.) Even with taking on and off time, they are net faster than walking -- by about 10 minutes [edit for error -- 20 minutes total. I got interrupted in the middle of that thought.]. At least, net faster for getting to CTE. Getting home may be a different story, as it is net uphill getting home. (Just ask xiphia about the hill up to my place. :) You notice the hills a lot more on blades than on foot. And, it uses muscles that I haven't used in a LONG time.

[edit] Getting home was faster, too. Not by as much. Chose to use the Empress St stairs, so mostly flat blading, but one climb. [/edit]
