Detroit, the week so far
Aug. 8th, 2008 12:20 amIt's been a pretty good week. The training has been going well, and I've been social 3 out of 5 evenings.
Sunday was arrival, finding hotel, and getting settled. Sadly the first restaurant I tried for dinner was closed, so had to bail to a chain.
Lunches have mostly been pretty good, Thai twice, middle eastern and fast-food Cal-Mex the 4th.
Monday night, met up with Caryn for tea and dinner, had a good meal at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, and had a wonderful time catching up with her and just talking.
Tuesday night I took it easy, since Wednesday and Thursday were going to be busy.
Wednesday night I had arranged to meet up with jeffreyab at my hotel between 4:30 and 5pm, then we'd drive over to eviljohn's for some gaming. Jeff still hadn't arrived by 5:30, nor had he called or emailed to say he would be late, so I stuck up a note and was just about to head out without him when he pulled up. We survived traffic to make it to eviljohn's around 7pm. I got to play (the hot new game) Agricola, then a game of Relationship Tightrope (which has horrible theme, but decent game play). Agricola was interesting. I'm not sure it lives up to the hype, but it does seem to be a good game. Also, I got a copy of Leonardo Da Vinci that eviljohn bought for me.
Thursday night was dinner then climbing with Bella and Amy, though Bella wasn't able to climb since she'd hurt a finger. It was a good time, though I chased more challenging routes than I often do when down here. I can't work a tough route the same way as I would at home, over several weeks, so I often leave really tough stuff. I managed, though, to bruise my knuckles -- something I don't think I've ever done before while climbing.
And, tomorrow I return home. Well, for two weeks that is.

Date: 2008-08-08 11:01 pm (UTC)I played it, and I think I mentioned at the time that eviljohn was going to get me a copy if he could, since he got a discount for being associated with the company.
I did buy it thinking there was a good chance you'd like it.
