Newfoundland trip schedule

aka Are we mad?

Saturday July 5th, 3pm or earlier, leave Ottawa.
Sunday, July 6th, 10am (or so) arrive Fort Louisbourg, spend day.
Sunday, 3:30pm, leave Louisbourg, drive to ferry in Sydney, NS.
Sunday night, hotel in Stephensville NFLD.
Monday, 7th, day - Gros Morne National Park. 2 hikes.
Monday night, B&B in Hawke's Bay.
Tuesday, 8th, day - Port au Choix, maybe Anse aux Medows.
Tuesday night, B&B in Hawke's Bay.
Wednesday - drive to St John's.
Wednesday night hotel in St John's.
Thursday 9th, day - sea kayaking, whales, icebergs - 4 hour tour. (Hope no kayak is called "The Minnow".)
Thursday night (10th) - St John's - same hotel as Wednesday night.
Friday - on the road by 7:30am, drive to ferry in Channel-Port-aux-Basques.
Friday night (11th) - Moncton, NB - hotel (cause was closest I could find).
Saturday - drive the rest of the way home. Likely arriving somewhere in the early am of Sunday.

We *loved* Louisbourg and I think you will too. One thing I'm really glad we did is splurge for the "theme" lunch. Last year there was a dig going on and we saw skeletons from a mass grave. Veeeeeery neat. It was way off by the water, a short hike from the main part of the fort.

If you have a chance the Miner's Museum in North(?) Sydney was another high point of the trip. I'm very jealous-- if we'd had just a little more time and money we'd have added Newfoundland to last year's trip.

I went to Louisbourg as a kid -- when I was about 7. I don't remember much of it. I don't think we'll have time for the Miner's Museum, though.

DO try to book a reservation for lunch or dinner - if I remember correctly they do take reservations and it can be hard to get in otherwise. But check if they will have anything for gabriel_le too.

Enjoy yourselves! Louisbourg is great, and Newfoundland has gotten rave reviews from everyone I know who went there.

I'll visit you in the psych ward when I get back, I promise!
