That was an awesome weekend
Jul. 1st, 2008 07:42 pmBut, tired now.
No intertubes since Friday morning, so I've been out of contact for a while. Got to catch up on a bunch of stuff, do a bunch of laundry, then plan for the trip to Newfoundland next week. It is going to be a busy week.
I did play 20 games since Friday: 7 serious (Reef Encounter, Imperial, In the Year of the Dragon, Brass, Kingsburg, Khronos, and Caylus), 4 moderate (Wizard, Ricochet Robots, and Citadels twice) and 9 light (Banagrams 8 times and Set).

Date: 2008-07-02 12:09 pm (UTC)I had a great time.
I also had an e-mail from a non-LJ friend (the one I introduced St PEtersburg to successfully) when I got back asking if I had heard of a bunch of other games. There were only three on their list that I recognized right off the bat (Caylus, Power Grid, and Princes of Florence) but they would like to try out said games so at some point I would love to borrow Caylus or Princes if that is ok. Not something I plan to organize before you leave for Nfld.

Date: 2008-07-02 02:41 pm (UTC)He asked me if I had played the following games:
>>Agricola
>>Dungeon Twister
>>Power Grid
>>Caylus
>>The Princes of Florence
>>Race for the Galaxy
>>Lost Cities
Power Grid I own. Lost Cities I don't think I have ever played but D (the person asking) bought it already.
I didn't recognize Agricola, Race for the Galaxy, or Dungeon Twister.
I consider it moderately likely that either you, Con_girl and Foms, or Ironpheonix would own these games but they don't ring any bells as I've never played them.

Date: 2008-07-02 02:51 pm (UTC)I've heard of Dungeon Twister, but it didn't sound interesting. Agricola is new, it has been out in a German edition for a while, but it only just recently (last month, I think) became available in an English-language edition. It is on my "probably buy" list.

Date: 2008-07-02 05:12 pm (UTC)Other games that I remember noticing included some games of Banagrams (without me), Mr Jack, and Lunar Rails. I'm pretty sure there were more that I don't directly recall.

Date: 2008-07-02 06:22 pm (UTC)Arkham Horror
Antike
Munchkin Cthulhu (by assumption - the box was out)
Power Grid
I liked Imperial and Kingsburg. I am undecided about the Dragon game and Kronos. I would have liked to have tried Brass but will do so another time.

Date: 2008-07-02 07:06 pm (UTC)I think In the Year of the Dragon will be good, and Brass is definitely good. I'm also unsure about Khronos. The wait-time between doing things is pretty high, with lots of thinking and decisioning and stuff. It has some really neat concepts, though, with the "rippling through time" stuff. So, conceptually, a really neat idea.
