We've officially aborted the customer training for next week. This means I will be driving to Confusion.

I will be leaving Ottawa around 3pm Thursday, arriving in KW at the home of [livejournal.com profile] mycrazyhair and [livejournal.com profile] whynotsteve around 9:30pm. Overnighting there, then heading on to Michigan.

Does anyone in (or near) KW want to get together for breakfast around 8-9am on Friday (Jan 21)?
[edit] Breakfast is now 10am, with [livejournal.com profile] horsetraveller and anyone else that cares to join us. We'll be at Symposium, 4 King St North (northwest corner of King and Erb, I think). [/edit]

I will be proceeding onwards to Michigan, expecting to arrive by about 3pm (probably closer to 2pm).

[livejournal.com profile] rmeidaking, this means I won't be making the Thursday dinner, and may not be able to help with shopping, but should be there in time to help with green room setup. If I get there early enough, do you have a cell phone I can contact you at to check where in the process you happen to be, so I can catch up with you? Especially useful if I can get into town early enough to help with the shopping.

[livejournal.com profile] elizilla, this means that I won't be staying at your place on Thursday, and won't need the lift to and from the airport. And, I'd like to take a bit of time at the con to talk about the Cabot Trail, do you have any firmer idea of dates from Stromtroopers? (It is the Stromtroopers, right?)

[livejournal.com profile] horsetraveller, you mentioned that you might be interested in going to Confusion, since I think you said you had the weekend off. Are you still interested, and does that start early enough for you to be heading out Friday morning? If not, see the breakfast question... would be good to see you on Friday.

After the convention, crash space in Sarnia with you, [livejournal.com profile] jabeeler would still be good. Hope that's still ok.

And, there is still the off-chance that there will be a sudden change, and I'll be flying from Detroit to Missouri on Sunday. Joy. Let's hope not.

The only thing is that they are arriving to put new windows on my second floor 9 AM Monday weather permitting.

Incentive to get on the road early.

Works for me.

I'll plan to see you for breakfast, except I have a meeting at 8am. Hmm. I should probably go to that. How about 10am?

I have made plans for Saturday night in Toronto so thanks for the invite but I will decline Confusion this year.

Hope to see you soon.

Sure, let's do 10am. It will push my arrival in Michigan a little bit later, but means I get to see you, which is a good thing.

Any suggestions/ideas for where?

I know [livejournal.com profile] corbet, [livejournal.com profile] redsash and I had a nice meal at a place on King street, sort of down-townish-Waterloo, but don't remember the place. It had couches, and comfy chairs, which was nice. (And if one of them chimed in with the actual place...that would be cool.)

Or some other place, too. I'd just rather not head northwards of Waterloo, as I have to drop back southwards to get onto the 401.

My meeting is at the hospital so I'll already be close to downtownish Waterloo (and not the wilds northwards).

Are you thinking of Symposium or Cafe 1842, perhaps?
Do other people want to join us around 10am?

Hm...both of those sound like names that corbet & redsash suggested when we were contemplating breakfast/brunch last time I was in town. Hm... google plus a bit of mapping tells me it was Symposium.

I'm not saying we SHOULD go there, but if you don't have a suggestion, that's the best I could come up with, being non-native to the area.

And other people are welcome to join us... but 10am on a weekday doesn't usually work for most people -- already at work, but too early for lunch.

Yeah, I forgot about the normal workday thing.

I think Symposium is a good place to go. I don't have any better suggestions, and it's easy to get to from the hospital.

Ok, Symposium it is, then.

Do you have a cell phone number?
(Do you still have my email address?)

You emailed me on January 3rd, I replied to that email address with my cell phone number.

I might be available Friday. Still trying to get in touch with my boss about taking the day off.

Would be cool if you could make it, too.

Any chance of picking up the wayward Iomega drive?

I think we have it still, so I'll remind him to take it.

Well, if you've got it, then it makes the post I just made irrelevant... so if you've got it, it is easy for me to pick it up. ;)

Not impossible.

Would primarily depend on [livejournal.com profile] corbet and [livejournal.com profile] redsash's schedules. If [livejournal.com profile] redsash were home Friday morning, I could grab it on the way to breakfast with [livejournal.com profile] horsetraveller, or if [livejournal.com profile] corbet is back from the wilds of the south by Monday, there's a good chance she'd be home during the day, and I could grab it on the way back through.

You may need to poke one of them directly, though... dunno if they've already read this post, and won't peek back in...

Yeah, the drive is still at S&C's.

Also, do you know Kieran Green? His dad is trying to build props for a production of Les Mis, and he needs some replica firearms. Kieran has a rubber-band musket and pistol that could use a ride to waterloo.

Send me email (redsash at gmail dot com) if you're willing and I'll forward you his contact info.

Ah, I just saw that you're leaving this afternoon. It still might be possible if you have the time -- Kieran's partner works at home.

I don't think I know Kieran, I emailed you, but picking stuff up is probably not good for me, as I work in the south end of Kanata -- anywhere in Ottawa is the wrong direction for me.
