I hate that swollen lip/cheek everything clumsy feeling you get after they've frozen your mouth for a filling. Especially when it's right before lunch.

Ugh. That was me last week, except it was a crown and not a filling. Don't schedule dentist appointments before lunch, silly. :-) Oh yeah, and be careful if you drink anything... but that warning may be a bit late.

It was only supposed to be a cleaning, not an appointment to get a filling done, but they found a cavity, and we've had some weather today so a dentist just happened to be available right away... so to save me some time, I had it done while I was already there. But, yeah, before lunch not the best of plans.

I drank very carefully. :)

If it's not a very deep cavity, you may consider next time getting it filled without freezing.

My parents have done this for years and I tried it out to see how it was. I recommend it.
You avoid all the pain of having the needle stuck in your nerves. You avoid all the nastiness of having a frozen mouth afterward.

You experience the vibration and sound of the drill, which you do anyway. You may flinch a bit during the drilling but if your dentist takes it slow, it doesn't heat up and cause too much trouble.

It is certainly not unbearably painful.

It is a thought, though this dentist did use a local topical anesthetic before doing the needle insertion.

But, I will ask about it.

That's me tomorrow... :( Well - I'm hoping for no cavities, but we shall see.

BTW... Are you (or anyone you know) planning to have a bike for sale in the future? We might be looking this year.

I don't have any plans to sell my bike in the near future, and I don't know many other Ottawa area riders, and none that are talking about selling their bikes.

What are you looking for in a motorcycle?

New enough not to be falling apart, old enough to be affordable - favourite model is a Yamaha Virago. We're mostly in the "daydream" stage right now, browsing internet sites. I'm trying to put it out of my head right now. *grin*

Yamaha Virago is clearly in the cruiser class... my bike doesn't fit into that class/style. (Even if I were selling it.)

Cruisers are generally nice looking (if you like that style), comfortable two-up, but lose the top-end performance on handling and power. Also, rarely have large amounts of good (hard-luggage) type storage. They're a good choice for recreational riding around and decent for commuting.

Also, there's generally lots of older cruisers around in decent shape 2nd-hand, at not-too-bad prices.

We're mostly looking for commuting within the city. We have a 7-passenger-mini-van for highway & luggage. *grin*

A cruiser will work for that, though when I say luggage I'm also thinking about the daily stuff someone might carry to/from work, or if they stop to pick up a couple things at the grocery store on the way home.

Well - given that the comparison is the bus... we generally don't get off the bus to get groceries and get back on the bus... We'll have to think about the "work satchel" issue though. Good thinking.

One solution -- bungy it to the seat behind you.

Next choice - tank bag (if big enough) or saddle bags.

Oh, and I hope for no cavities, and a simple check up. :)

(I was clearly distracted by the bike talk. )

Thank you!
The bike talk is distracting me, too.
Off I go to unbury the driveway...

I'm hoping gabriel_le will have the driveway unburied before I get home. :)

You're asking a lot.
The driveway completely defeated me just now. (and it was already done this morning...)

I got a 2-shovel-wide path from my door to the base of the driveway, then spent every ounce of my strength digging the 2-foot-high snow in the road out as far as the packed-down tire tracks (i.e. almost half the road) so that my client can get a stroller out of my driveway. And every single shovelful blew stinging darts back in my face. Now I am toast. I'm hoping Moria or Bytowneboy will volunteer to take a turn... it's nasty.

My heartrate *still* hasn't gone down. I'll try to think of it in terms of calories instead of frostbite, earaches, and sore back. *grin*

Lots of good calorie burning out there... and you don't even have to pay a membership fee. :)
