I know I'm going this year, beyond that I don't really know. I also go for the people, but as more of the people drift away, I'm starting to wonder if it is worth it anymore. This year may be my last year.
If you don't make it to the con, would you be interested in getting together for a meal sometime over the weekend while I'm in town?
If you're not at the con, then dropping by for the open-house veggie dinner might be a possibility. I won't be able to cook & bring anything, and it will depend on when I actually get there -- I will probably be doing Ad Astra on the way back from a business trip.
Sadly, I can't recommend anything close by. (Not anymore.) Though, Worldcon will be in Montreal next year (2009), and that is very close (you're unlikely to find a Worldcon closer to Ottawa) and Worldcons are generally pretty impressive conventions.
