Some of you in my readership may actually remember back to The Dragon magazine and Phil Foglio's serial comic in there (What's New with Phil and Dixie). Others may know his art from the illustrations in Asprin's Myth series. Well Phil (and Kaja) have been doing a comic called Girl Genius since late 2002, and doing it Monday/Wednesday/Friday. The first issue is in black & white, though it changes to colour from then on out. And it is wonderful -- funny, engagingly drawn (with the pneumaticism you'd expect from Phil Foglio). It is a steam punk (steam-driven robots [they're called "clanks"]), mad-scientists (most of the main characters clearly suffer from S.R.M.D. and the Vorstellen Police would arrest them all), bizarre, crazy, funny, romp of a comic.

It will suck hours out of your life, and you'll love it all.

A great thing to read when you're off on a business trip for a couple weeks. :)

(It has been on my to-read list for a while, but had a long-enough archive that I held off. Also, when I first noticed it, much of the content was pay-to-read, but it's all free now.)

I absolutely adore Girl Genius. It's one of the four comics on my "read every day it comes out" list.

So, what are the other three?

Oh, just standard mainstream stuff - Dilbert, Doonesbury, For Better or For Worse.

Oh well. I was hoping it was something that I didn't already read, so I could add more good stuff to my reading list.
