It was a busy weekend...

Birthday for tchang & arndis' friend G on Friday.
Off to T.O. and dinner with K on Saturday.
Then, mycrazyhair's awesome birthday party Saturday evening.
Home again on Sunday, icky traffic.
Suprise drop-by visit from raynedaze, tocityguy, Malika, and Tsivia.

In more detail...

arndis and tchang had invited gabriel_le (and by extension me) to their friend George's birthday party on Friday evening. I've met George once at climbing, I think gabriel_le had as well, so it felt a bit strange going to the party... but gabriel_le felt she had kind of committed to being there. It was a small group -- in addition to the already listed were his mom, ami_b and Paul. (Who may have an LJ, but I don't recall it.) It turns out all these people know iclysdale (who was absent) from high school time frame. I like meeting awesome new (to me) people like ami_b.

After Saturday morning snuggles with gabriel_le, I packed some stuff up and headed for Toronto. The drive down went quite smoothly, with me arriving right on time at 6pm at Kyle's place. We waited for Lloyd to get home, then went out for dinner at an Italian place just up the block. It was wonderful catching up with each other -- we haven't had a chance in far too long. (Kyle is an ex- of mine, from around 20 years ago.) Talking about past relationships, problems we had with them, how we got by them. Talking about how things are going now with work and life. Just talking.

After that, I headed for mycrazyhair's party (well, really her and curgoth's and other people's party, but of the birthday party people I know mycrazyhair best). I navigate my way accross town, and park and walk to where I think the party is... and the address doesn't seem to exist. So, I call the number for her place... and the number doesn't seem to exist. (I managed to transcribe both the house address and phone number wrong. I'm usually good with numbers.) Luckily, while I was trying to call anyone who's number I had that might be able to help, another couple party attendees wandered along and recognised me, and guided me to the party.

And, it was an awesome party. I am looking forward to some of the pictures. If that is mycrazyhair NOT cooking for a party and NOT entertaining at a party (she was VERY entertaining at times), then I think I would explode from both (plurally and severally) food and happy entertainedness if she decided to actually cook and entertain. It was good to seem some old friends (corbet, northbard, tormenta), to get to know some newish friends better, and to meet some people who I hope will become new friends (including the adorable sabotabby).

Sunday the drive home was far longer than I expected. Traffic accross-townish to get to the highways was a lot heavier than I expected. (Possible Santa Claus parade issues, I now learn.) Then I'm heading up the DVP only to find it almost completely stop and go -- they had northbound DVP closed at Don Mills road, and everyone had to exit. Since it looked like a police diversion, I'm guessing an accident. Then, 401 east of Toronto went stop-and-go too. Again, once we got clear it was an accident -- off to the side by the time I got there, but still a hefty slow down. About an 1h15 in extra driving time from the two accidents and bonus traffic in Toronto.

After getting home, settling for a while, and getting some leftover soup/stew in the microwave for dinner, I hear the door. raynedaze, tocityguy, Malika, and Tsivia had dropped by. I think raynedaze wanted to show tocityguy some of her art stuff in the room she's using as a studio. They hung around for a while and socialized to (well, Tsivia napped), then I kicked them out since I needed to get a few things done around here. Was nice to see them for the visit, though.

Now, I'm caught up on LJ and almost caught up on posting. Just have to fold laundry, empty and re-load the dishwasher, pack for the trip to Syracuse after work tomorrow, piano practice, and I'm sure a couple other things.
