dagibbs: (climbing)

I went climbing on Saturday with progeer and rainbowravenx at the Ann Arbor Planet Rock. We had a good time, but just after my 2nd climb, I was demonstrating the starting moves of the climb I had just done, and because I'd done it, and it was "easy", I wasn't being properly careful. My left foot slipped and somehow landed on my right foot and knocked it off as well. Landed pretty hard. At the time, it hurt a bit, but I moved my foot a round a bit, and it seemed mostly ok -- a bit uncomfortable when standing on the sloped floor they have in parts there but ok to climb. So I climbed on it for another several hours, and it was ok.

After I took my cimbing shoes off, though, that was a different story. Within about 15 minutes it became VERY painful. I spent the rest of the evening hobbling around. I picked up an elastic bandage and some ibuprofen, and wrapped it up. But it was still painful -- driving was painful. I did as much braking as I could left-footed, and cruise-controlled whenever I could. But, even having my foot on the floor of the car was painful. I was really worried about today's travel.

But, luckily, when I woke up my foot/ankle was far better. I could walk -- slowly and carefully -- but I could walk. It mostly wasn't painful, though it was tender and felt a bit weak. I wouldn't have wanted to have to/try to walk quickly, though. But I could do a slow walk (mosey?) and feel like there was almost no limp in it. This suggests that I didn't break anything.

Still, I'm going to spend as much of this week sitting down as I can, and I don't think I'll go climbing tomorrow as I was originally thinking. We'll see how things feel later in the week, if I'm better by Thursday, I may climb then, since I'll be driving down to Indianapolis anyway, to change hotel. (I have an early flight on Friday.)

**ouch** Hope you're right, it's not broken, and heals quickly.
