gaming and party
Oct. 20th, 2007 01:09 amDropped by shadowriderhope's piano birthday, got to see a bunch of people including a few I didn't see at con. Got to visit a bit more with Bella, who was also there.
Also played a game of Yspahan and a game of Notre Dame. Both are top-100 on BGG, and both seemed to be good games, but I was not instantly grabbed by either as a must-have.
I also acquired a package destined for con_girl from tammylc.
Thank you, Tammy, for hosting gaming. I appreciated the chance to get a bit of gaming in this week.

Date: 2007-10-22 12:43 am (UTC)Most RPGs require ongoing regular commitment -- a campaign where the same group can get together over and over. That is harder to do for adults, and especially hard for me to achieve because of my travel schedule for work. So, nowadays I mostly play board games.
But, I've been a board gamer as long (or longer if you count playing a classic like Chess with my father) as I've been an RPGer. Though, back then I called them war games, and called myself a wargamer -- though often just shortened it to "gamer". The gaming conventions I went to had both RPGs and other game -- war games, and miniatures were the other two big categories.
Thinking back on it, I've been a gamer (not counting family and traditional games like Chess) for something around 30 years now.
