Given my state of mind this week, and my difficulty transitioning to my summer program, i am having second thoughts about planning a full day outing with the kids to your cottage. I am contemplating staying home in the daytime to sleep in, and then get on top of the laundry and clutter that has been weighing me down. Then i'm hoping to leave the kids with Moria, and come out around dinner time with Ox.
Priority zero-and-should-be-tossed-out-into-garbage = caring about how we feel when you are taking care of yourself. We aren't your family or a primary partner, we shouldn't have a say in how you self-care (unless it's not really self care but numbing self-destruction, and then we'll call you on it).
With that said, our needs are only that you bring the food you need for when you're up there. If you plan on spending the night, bring some semblance of bedding and crash space too (there's some, but I don't know what would be available).
Also, there seems to be a 5 degree difference between the weather there and the weather in Ottawa - so make sure you pack some cooler clothes too.
We'd love to see you yes. We'd love more for you to feel rested and moderately refreshed heading into the new week = so do what you need to make that come about.
Dinner time is a bit... flexible. It depends on what games are being played, and when the cook gets finished his/her afternoon activities and starts on dinner. Rarely before 6pm, rarely after dark. If you aim for 5-5:30, you should be up in easy time for dinner.
The distance is about 70km, but I find it take me about an hour to drive it, and I know the roads and like driving fast, and know how to drive them fast. Maybe 1h15-1h30. (Also, I don't have to figure out directions, and make sure I'm going the right way. )
