OMG, I am so full
Nov. 14th, 2016 07:41 pmOn the combined recommendation/suggestion of the locals and foms, I went to J.T. Basque Bar & Dining Room, which is a Basque restaurant in Gardnerville (just south of Minden).
They serve "family style" which means there is a choice of mains, and otherwise a set of standard dishes -- for my main I chose lamb chops, but other choices included top sirloin steak, lamb shoulder steak, salmon, sweet breads, pigs feet with tripe, and Basque chicken.
My meal was:
Red wine (generous portion)
Bread & Butter
Soup - vegetable and white bean, generous portion
Salad - lettuce & dressing, generous portion
Chicken & rice stew, generous portion
Baked beans, generous portion
Lamb chops (4)
French fries, guess what, generous portion
Ice cream (declined, I was too full)
Coffee
For everything but the lamb chops, whenever I finished the serving, I was asked if I wanted more. You know family style -- you can have seconds. :)
As the food kept coming and coming, I was worried I might have gone over my limit, but price for all this food was just under $30.
If you're even in the area, and aren't a vegetarian, I would recommend it: http://www.jtbasquenv.com/
