And arrived...
Jan. 31st, 2011 06:38 pmAccidentally left my trip information (like hotel and stuff) behind in Toronto, when I had it out for putting the information on my US customs & immigration form. Luckily I knew the rental car company, remembered the hotel, and the GPS could find the hotel.
Still, I'll have to track down the information on my return flight before Friday. Should be somewhere in the archives of my work email. :)
Otherwise, all the travel went smoothly.

Oddities...
Jan. 31st, 2011 08:41 pmI've got a Chevy Malibu as my rental. Like a few rentals I've had over the last couple of years, it is an automatic -- but has a "manual" shift setting as well. No clutch, and it doesn't shift really well, but there it is. On this one, they went with something like paddle-shifters on the steering column/wheel -- but instead of what I would expect (such as right for up, left for down or even the reverse of that), they went with a shifter on both sides, where if you pull in on either side, it down shifts, then they wrapped a little thumb-lever to the front of the inside of the wheel, and pushing that (either side) upshifts. Odd.
And, coming back to the hotel, there was a guy who walked out of the exercise room, waited almost a minute for an elevator... to go up one floor. Why not just take the stairs? Your expedition out of your room was to get exercise, and it would even have been faster than waiting for and taking the elevator. Odd.
