Amusing translation oops...

I'm reading through the rules to Cannes - Stars, Scripts, and Screens. There are three types of movies you can make: Sci-Fi movies, Action movies, and Girlie movies. I'm pretty sure they mean something like "chic-flics" not "girlie movies". :) (The German categories are: Science-Fiction-Filme, Action-Filme, and Teenie-Komodien (with an umaut over the 2nd o).)

5 new games...

Oraklos - a quick pattern-matching game. Looks like it might be fun.
Cannes - a network building & production game about producing films.
VOC! - fetching spices from the new world for money... with blind ship routing. Dunno.
Indonesia - economic development... with auctions for turn order and merging companies. Looks challenging.
Roads and Boats - a game of logistics, where you only own what is on your transport. Production facilities and goods are common. Simultaneous play, unless conflicts happen. Right now, it is making my brain hurt. (And, the box is HUGE.)

Back to Michigan (June 1-5)

I'll be back in south-east Michigan from June 1st-5th. Work trip this time, so days are busy but evenings are free. (Well, Mon-Thurs, I'll likely be flying home Friday evening. Unless there is something so exciting Friday evening that I should fly home Saturday morning.)
