Lots of travel, and two Thanksgiving Dinners -- both in Quebec.
The weekend started with dinner on Friday with Robyn & Don in Austin. Decent food, cute waitresses in short skirts.
Saturday morning, 0700 flight out of Austin -- I hate being up and driving somewhere before the sun is up. Double-plus-ick if the GPS system setting for "return to rental car location" takes you to an employee parking lot rather than the actual, useful, return location. Doh. Into Ottawa for about 2pm, confirm that my friend from Toronto won't be making it. Then I get a reminder from sultrysong that they're hosting Thanksgiving dinner that evening, so I hop in the car and boot it for Montreal. Nice dinner with sultrysong, mellybean71 and friends, then home again.
Sunday morning, despite my dreams of sleeping in, I'm woken around 9am by Marie-France, with whom I'll be playing bridge that day. Bridge starts at 1pm, but she had some confusion that it might start earlier. We go out, grab some breakfast, home, hang around, then over to the bridge site. I discover that I am still quite rusty, but we put in a 1/2 decent round and it is nice to be playing again. Though, I did get a bunch of "where have you been" type comments. I headed home around 11pm, cause gabriel_le was supposed to be home. She was! Yay! Huggles & snuggles & cuddles & yummers with gabriel_le.
Sunday, after some nice sleeping in, it is off to my parents cottage with gabriel_le and her mom for my 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner. We have a nice afternoon, and the trees are pretty colours, I just wish there had been sun rather than cloud and grey and mist, and we could really have appreciated how brilliant the colours were. We finish dinner thoroughly stuffed, then have some dessert. After dinner and cleanup, back to Ottawa, where gabriel_le and I play a few boardgames, including one from her childhood - Guess Who.
All in all, despite the hurting back/neck/shoulder, it was a good weekend.
