And today I'm off to Erie Pennsylvania. I'm flying out around noon, and returning Friday evening, so a fairly short trip. I couldn't find any climbing around Erie -- it seems too small to have a gym, and too flat to have "real" climbing, at least anything that I could google for. So, I'm going to take this week as a holiday from climbing, give my body a chance to heal/recover from all the various micro-injuries that accumulate.

My sister and husband (and my niece) should be in town when I get back. Hopefully we'll get out climbing a couple times while they're here. I hope to learn a lot from Randy -- he is, or has been, a serious climber including ice climbing and mountaineering, not just rock climbing.

So, the joy of going from one small town with limited air service to one podunk-small town with limited air service -- flight time: about 2 hours on 2 legs. Wait time in Detroit: 3.5 hours between flights. (Plus, of course, the 2 hours for international clearing and stuff in Ottawa. At least Erie is small enough that the luggage came quickly.) Mostly smooth trip, only a minor hiccough in Detroit, where they couldn't get power to the jetway to pull it back from the plane, delaying us a few minutes (maybe 10). And, we got the joy of being told it was "being maintenanced". How's that for a corruption of the english language?
