Waaah!

I missed a phone call from my sweetie this morning. I hadn't expected her to call -- she hadn't reached her next mail drop, but called from Caratunk, Maine. Unfortunately, I was teaching, so of course I had my cell phone off.

Teaching itself is going well, though.

Last night, had dinner with a few people at the Tio's in Ypsilanti, since the Tio's in Ann Arbor had no power and was closed. I got there fairly early, and luckily caught elizilla before she left, and could have her post to the stilyagi list about the decided change in venue.

Hopefully will go climbing tomorrow with renniekins, but if not, may still go out bouldering, just to get a bit of practice in. We'll have to see.

(mis)adventures in dining

I went to the Olive Garden for dinner tonight -- not because the food is especially great, but because it is about 3 buildings from my hotel, that is, a few minutes walk. The food is generally ok, if not fancy, though this time the food mostly wasn't. They had a kitchen fire (small, they say) while I was there -- and all they could serve was soup and salad. (Well, and apparently the desserts survived, too. Yay.) So, dinner was 3 bowls of Minestrone soup, some salad and some bread sticks. Given that I've sometimes voluntarily had soup for dinner (Pho), not too bad. And, I walked out with a gift card for about what the meal I order would have cost -- that is, for $20.00. But, I don't know when I'll next be somewhere that I'm likely to use this gift card -- I'm often on expense account when in the states, and the next con isn't for a while. (And, I have no idea if it will be near an Olive Garden, either.) Hm...apparently it is, also, good at Red Lobster, Smokey Bones, and Bahama Breeze. Ooo.

Hold on to it? Give it to a deserving soul? Dunno.
