corbet at the Yang Sheng. I like the food there, and the company was wonderful, and the weather was gorgeous... almost wished they had a patio.
Came back to the office to discover I'd been re-orged.
Again. I've still got the exact same job, but now instead of being in the Systems group of the R&D department, I'll be in the Engineering Services department. I'm having a strong feeling of deja-vu. A few years ago, almost the exact same thing happened, an Engineering Services department was created, with a (newly-hired) V.P. to head it up. He lasted about 6 months (didn't get on with the VP or R&D, aka as co-owner). The department lasted only slightly longer -- it was that re-org that moved me to R&D. The new Engineering Services department has a V.P., but he's been with the company for a while, so it's an internal promotion, and likely this means there won't be the same personality/direction conflict that torpedoed things last time.
On the whole, I think this is a good re-org for the company, and a good structure to have. I'm just wondering who is going to be my manager. They haven't figured out all the details of the new structure yet, just that they're going that way.
Also, had an inquiry for a training course in India. Don't think we'll be able to do it, though.
And am busy doing final prep for printing of the next release of our course material, as well as prep for a trip to Michigan to teach for a week (and do some visiting). Busy, busy, busy.
