A merry christmas to you too, from one "cultural christian" to another! There recently was a church service as one of the activities here on the rehab floor. i've never been asked so many times if I'm going to an optional activity before! I kept telling them that I was a good heathen but they would't believe it! then, when everyone else was at 'church', and I was in my room, a person from chaplaincy services 'just happened' to come by. he was agitating that there wasn't a religion marked on my admission documents. I told him that I was buddhist. (which is actually quite true--the broad strokes of buddhism fit my underlying spiritual beliefs much more than the broad strokes of christianity). the man then got a shocked buggy eyed look on his face, looked at his sheets, and supprisedly said "we have a box for that!" , ticked it off and left. this amused me greatly, and I hope it means that I will no longer get bugged so much when it it time for the next church service on the ward...
merry midwinter feast-festival/return of the light after equinox celebration to all, no matter what your persuasion! i.
they probably did, but this was more fun, and probably got a better look on the guy's face. ;-> i'm also hoping less persistent invitations to church services on the ward later in my stay. i.
