Played Thurn and Taxis with gabriel_le last night. It seems to play well as a 2-player game, though I expect it will be different with 3 or 4 players. We both liked the game, and she kicked my ass, too.
I saw the reference to Thurn and Taxis, and being an ex-cabdriver, I of course figured that it had something to do with driving around with people in your vehicle or something.
I broke down and DAGSed, and found that it had nothing what ever to do with taximeter cabriolets. However, knowing what little that I do about 16th century German politics, I suspect that it's only slightly more, um, baroque than the way the taxi business works.
