Formerly known as...

I got some hallowe'en loot dropped my way, and in there are some "Popeye Candy Sticks". I remember them under another name, and this new incarnation doesn't have one end marked with red colouring either. At least Popeye still has a corncob pipe in his mouth.

[edit] They seem, also, to have lost any flavour they had, or that I hallucinated they had. Also their addictive qualities. And 100% of their "cool" factor.[/edit]

I was just thinking about those on Thursday, for some reason. I was wondering how one reacts when one's children pretend smoking with them, like my sister and I used to do. Kind of relieved to know they aren't so obviously candy cigarettes any more.
I can't recall if they had much of a flavour. Maybe minty?

I remember it being mostly sweet and something -- not minty -- kind of unidentifiable. Or, at least I didn't identify it. Now, they seem not quite so sweet, and missing that "something" that made them taste interesting, rather than just sweet.

Yes, they weren't minty. Kind of a chalky consistency more like. I don't remember them being particularly tasty, and never missed having them once I never saw them available any more.
