Penguicon trip scheduled finally firmed up

My life is, often, hard to predict. That is, it is often difficult for me to know what I'll be doing, or where I'll be, a few weeks in the future.

For quite a while, it looked like I'd be teaching in Detroit the week of April 19th, which was quite convenient as I'd just head down early, pick up Penguicon, stay for the week for work, then head home. Or head onwards to elsewhere, as for a while that also looked like it might happen. But, that training stint has been pushed back in time (again).

So, that meant I wouldn't be able to travel for work. I found out that this, likelly would be postponed around a week ago Thursday, but it didn't get solidly confirmed until last week. Of course, I spent all last week off work. So, I wasn't able to confirm with my boss whether I could get the vacation days Friday and Monday for travel to/from the convention until today. (Well, today defined as Monday as this post will hit after midnight.)

So, the plan:

Thursday after work I head for Toronto, and overnight at purplesofa's place. Likely on her eponymous piece of furniture. Friday I move on to KW, and have lunch with mycrazyhair and srfsports. Then on to Penguicon, possibly stopping by at elizilla's to borrow a motorcycle that she so kindly offered after reading that mine was out of commision. That will probably depend on the weather, and how I'm doing. I'll be rooming with jeffreyab at the con, right next door to the Confusion (party) suite, then overnighting at his place after the con on Sunday night. Monday I'll be heading back to KW to have lunch with corbet and then finishing my trip home.

Should be a fun, but busy, weekend. Of course, that describes most convention weekends. :)

Steve and I were just talking about the lunch potential this morning. Just let me know where and when you want to meet, and we'll be there. If you feel like pizza, we could go to Cafe Bolero (very near to my Kitchener office).

Well, I'm no longer truly a KW native... but I mostly know how to find your office still, so Cafe Bolero near your office sounds like it would be a fine choice. I'll probably need directions again, though.

Directions: If you take the HWY from the 401 into Kitchener, it eventually becomes King St. It's not the nicest road to travel on, but it will get you pretty much right to the restaurant which is on Water St., just after turning right off King (Christina's office is on Water, turning left off King). There is construction right in front of the restaurant this week so you will probably need to park elsewhere.

Let me know if these directions are not detailed enough.
