Been a busy while!
Sep. 17th, 2006 09:31 pmIt has been a while since I've updated -- then again, I've been a fairly busy boy.
Part of the break in updates is because I was teaching at work all last week, so I can't check anything like LJ or my games while at work, so have more computer stuff to do when home. (And, with 11 people, it was a fairly full class, even if most were QNX employees.) The course went well, but it is probably the course I'm most comfortable with, too.
Monday evening I went climbing with Ric, an ex- of gabriel_le's. He can climb things I can't climb -- but mostly through strength, rather than technique. He is small, wiry, and quite fit.
Tuesday evening, I had dinner with Sandra. I'm glad she's back in my life, after so many years -- we've still got a good connection, and I'm really happy about it.
Wednesday evening, dinner at my parents, with gabriel_le. I like my parents, and try to have dinner with them on Wednesdays, at least all the Wednesdays that both they and I are in town.
Thursday evening was the first poetry slam of the season. I met another rock-climber there, so have another climbing companion. I really do want to make it out a couple times a week.
Friday evening I was supposed to climb again with Ric, but he was not feeling well, so I thought about going bouldering, but didn't do it.
Saturday morning, met Sandra for coffee (though we both drank tea ;) at Bridgehead. Then she gave me a lift to pick up my motorcycle from the shop. Finally gabriel_le and I got out to do some shopping, and Talked a bit.
gabriel_le and myself were planning to hike the Wolf trail, in the Gatineau park today, and coincidentally just last night ansfrid posted a "buttongirl and I went hiking, we enjoyed it, do you (gabriel_le and dagibbs) want to go hiking tomorrow (Sunday)" message. So, I quickly consulted with gabriel_le, and replied that we'd love to. So, the four of us hiked about 9.5 kms today, doing the full loop of the Wolf trail, going up the hard side first, of course. ansfrid misjudged a leap over some muck, landing full foot into it, and then leaving his sandal behind in the muck. gabriel_le fished it out -- from elbow deep in the muck. There were some beautiful outlooks, though, and we're all glad we did it. We must do this again, maybe even regularly.
Would anyone else be interested in semi-regular hikes in Gatineau park, or possibly other areas of interest around here? We'd be planning semi-serious hikes -- about as long as the one above (9.5 km), which took us a bit over 3 hours, and did involve about 200m of altitude gain.
