Climbing in Michigan
Aug. 17th, 2006 12:18 amWent climbing this evening with
renniekins at Planet Rock in Pontiac. It was "Crank night", which apparently means a live DJ (with too-loud technoish music) (boo), reduced prices (yay) and open until 11pm instead of 10pm (yay). We had planned to meet for 7:30pm, but both arrived at about 7:15pm, and were climbing by 7:30. We had a great time, and climbed though until "last call", when I was on the wall at about 10:40pm, and finished that climb around 10:50 -- so about 3 1/4 hours of climbing.
Planet Rock has some quite interesting terrain, including a lot more variation in pitch than either of the gyms I've climbed at in Ottawa -- including some relatively challenging climbs up some less than vertical walls, and one interesting climb that starts up a less-than-vertical wall, and finishes on a more-than-vertical wall. It also felt like it had more height than either Coyote or Vertical Reality. That is, the climbs felt longer.
I must do this again next time I'm in the area.
