Book 23: The Hallowed Hunt by Lois McMaster Bujold. Unlike her Miles Vorkosigan books, the Chalion/Paladin/Hallowed "series" are actually books that can stand completely alone as novels in their own right. There is a bit more richness to any of them from having read the others and knowing a bit more about the world, but each does stand alone, and complete. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and recommend it to anyone who like well written fantasy. The characters are well-realized, the story well told, with a nice leavening of humour that I can I think best describe as organic within the story. Humour that flows naturally from the characters and the situations and their interactions. I will have to make sure to buy a copy when it comes out in paperback -- this was a borrowed HC that I read.
